Alt Country Rock band Noonan carried our show this week with their own brand of country music. We supplemented it with a "Previously" segment featuring The Hell Country Truckers, leaning more toward Country Rock, then just for the heckuvit we threw in a cut by Old Old Country Legend Sherwin Linton one of our earliest musical guests who did a cover from the FIFTIES. A good time was had by all, hope you enjoyed it.
The good Doctor took in The Who’s Minneapolis gig and d.j. babyswiss had the starship all to himself – launching off into the Dubiverse to the tune of locals Secret Panels vs. The Assessor’s “Strange Dub”, followed up by Tsuyoshi Kawakami’s Moodmakers and Kaori Takeda warming up a chill pre-winter night with an “Ice Ball” …attendance highly recommended. Then, from “Ice” to “Fire” with Little Tempo. Some classic UB40 was in the mix, as was the Upsetters-esque Slackers cut “El Gato”. The mighty King Tubby turns up in the company of Yah Congo and Professor, and dig Jah Wobble’s bizarre take on the “Battle of Britain”! Mutant Froggie bumpers figured throughout.
2nd Hour: Guests Flamin' Oh's keyboardist, Bob Burns joined to talk about performing with them since '87 and spun a few Oh's songs in advance of their Mpls. Music Cafe show Sat. 7:30. Tom Siler spun The Who songs, and from his bands The Odd and Tulip Sweet and Her Trail of Tears and shared stories in advance of The Who By Numbers, Tuesday at the 7th Street Entry. 1st Hour: Debuted exclusive preview of Enemy Planes from their forthcoming 2013 record. Spun tracks from records being released by Desert Vest and Birthday Suits and Deep Blues Fest performers.
