Atypically this program features two interviews; in the first segment Josh Wise from the MN Fair Trade Coalition (MNFairTradeCoalition.org) joins me with an update on the global trade market currently. At the top of the second hour I get to speak with the actor playing Sandra from the upcoming touring production "FELA" coming in early June to the Ordway Theatre in St. Paul.
Tonight the Echo Chamber presented part 2 of “Around the World in 20+ Dubs”, the 6th annual special which originally aired on Echo Beach on 4/27 (WLUW-FM, Chicago). Once again Dr. StrangeDub joined the TurnTableTerrorist (Terry C) for the dubwise journey. But, before embarking on ATWD #6, the good doctor filled the first hour with some excellent new releases including: Tara Putra (the new In Dubland); the new “Survive” release from Garrison Hawk (with Sly & Robbie) on Bill Laswell’s M.O.D. Technologies label; the Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars’ new “Radio Salone” (on Cumbancha); and the Nazarenes’ excellent new Meditation (on I Grade).
Ghost of a Chance, from 19 Nocturne Boulevard, in which a girl strives to keep her household intact so she won’t be hauled off to any Child Services institution. She’s hiring someone to play her father for the authorities. Oh, she still has the assistance of her father and her grandparents, it’s just that they aren’t alive, which makes it tough to show them off. And “The Ship That Sued”, from Curious Echo, part of the series about Frank Gadsden: Personal Injury Lawyer of the Future.
On tonight’s episode of Radio Pocho, hosts Miguel Vargas & Daniel Topete bring in guest DJ, Rambo Salinas, back from his sabbatical in San Antonio, TX. He’ll gives the lowdown on up-and-coming artists in SanAnto, as well his usual repertoire of Chicano funk & soul 45s that he throws down at HotpantsMinneapolis Minnesota.
