This week I open with tangos… a recent release from Ruben Blades and an international blend.  More Latin American songs follow ; from Lila Downs to Cuba.  Again Global Beat features more Cuban varieties in honor of President Obama's historic tour.

What a big show! Just in time for Lee “Scratch” Perry’s 80th birthday was the “Black Ark Vampires” track with Subatomic Sound System that opened our show. Followed this with two more L$P productions (including one with the late great Roland Alpphonso), before moving on to more new releases. And what a ton of new releases — including the Unified Highway self-titled album; Ancient Astronauts’ new “Themes from Tomorrowland – Instrumentals” album; the new “Migration” album from Poirier; Dalindeo’s excellent new “Slavic Souls” album on BBE; and more new releases from Ras Lion, Tour de Force, O.B.F. ft. Troy Berkley, Quantic & Jimetta Rose, Irieginal Nutty Tree, Dillon Wyte, Gentleman’s Dub Club, Anoushka Shankar, Adam Prescott, Tigers Project, and the new mix of “5 Fingers of Ska” from Mutant Frogs (and intended for the “Echo Chamber – Around the World in Dub – Vol. 7 & 8” release, soon come on Dan Dada Records). We also did a “coming to town” set featuring Warrior King, HIRIE, The Expanders, and Iration. Added to this was more great music from the likes of Sly & Robbie, Nkulee Dube, Prince Jazzbo, The Process ft. Lord Kimo, Senior All Stars, Jackie Mittoo, Mad Professor, Ammoye, Tony Freebird, The Surfmen, and more…

Members of The Cult of Lip and Fury Things, and PD Larson,  Jayhawks manager and Kill Kancer boardmember joined, talking about the upcoming Gardens Kill Kancer Benefit at the Turf Club.
