Diane and Allan brought A Hawk and a Hacksaw, Tres Chicas, and played Forro in the Dark…just some of the artists they saw up in Winnepeg. We also heard new music from Eliza Gilkyson, the Hold Steady, and another creative project from half of Roma di Luna: Crescent Moon is in Big Trouble—a pre-cursor to the show Saturday at the Nomad West Bank Music Festival…and the return of Traditional Methods!

Brand new heavy dubs from Burning Babylon (Beat Beat Beat); some great new global underground sounds from Secret Archives of the Vatican (Babylon Halt); a half-hour Groundation mix (to celebrate their 7/14 show in Minneapolis); an expanded re-release of Johnny Osbourne’s Studio One classic Truth and Rights (on Heartbeat); and much, much more…

Another fun record from Me First the Gimme Gimmes hit stores this week: Have Another Ball reveals the lighter side of these pop punks, as they take on the soft rock of the late 70s and early 80s…right down to the lovers-strolling-on-a-beach-at-sunset cover art. We heard Rich Girl this morning, and you’ll probably hear more from them on PWB in weeks to come. We also previewed the new Hold Steady record, in stores July 15th. That was just in the first hour—you might have still been asleep!
