Tonight we celebrated the historic election of Barack Obama, while commemorating the life of my late Jamaican father-in-law Robert. And what better way to celebrate than with an All-Jamaican program? We got the party started with Cocoa Tea who satisfied both themes with his catchy Barack Obama song.

We heard new music this morning from Mavis Staples, Kimya Dawson, and a single from eg bailey called America. Look for a full-length release from eg bailey in early ’09.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

10/29/2008 Echo Chamber

All the ghouls, goblins, and dreads gathered with Dr. Seaton, Dr. StrangeDub, and DJ Baby Swiss in the Echo Chamber of Horrors… The good doctors of DUB cooked up quite a dark treat for their annual Halloween show. The scene was set with the spine tingling creepiness of Raz Mesinai’s The Unspeakable album and soundbytes from the movies The Exorcist, Dracula, and Frankenstein, and from radio theater pieces such as The Black Cat based on the Poe poem. One centerpiece of the show was the release from Tino Corp. that fit the program perfectly: Tino’s Breaks Volume 6 – Hallowe’en Dub.
