Thanks to Eliza Gilkyson:http://www.elizagilkyson.com, who took time out to talk with me before coming up for the Red House Records 25th Anniversary concert, and to Ben Glaros:http://www.benglaros.com, who came in early to play live and talk about not only his solo record, but new music adventures with the Middle States and 16 Strings Trio. Check the playlist for new music, including Loreena McKennit, Femi Kuti, and Calexico.

Whammy Mix

Check out DJ Champion’s No Heaven; this track is featured in an ad for Guinness, which is essentially the big time for an underground producer like Champion.

Explosive bolts, 10,000 volts, and a million miles an hour.

11/12/2008 Echo Chamber

Another typical Echo Chamber mix of roots, dub, and eclectic fun. Brand new dub from Volfoniq; Eating Betty’s excellent new Every Spoil a Dub; the latest roots classic Jah Is Real from Burning Spear; the fine new Nostradamus album from Winston McAnuff; a new Lucky Dube restrospective (on Ryko); and the cool
roots vibe of See-I’s Mean Joe Green.

New local music this morning from Nikki the RueMates, who had a CD release party that John Wills also played—which he is why he got up early with us on November 4th (thanks, John!). Nikki the RueMates also played the KFAI 30th Anniversary party at the Eagles on November 8th, and it was packed! It was so fun to see old KFAI friends and meet new KFAI folks, too. Thank you to everyone who was able to come down and celebrate the little station that could. Check out the playlist for more new curiosities, such as The Postmarks, Lenka, and Jenny Lewis.
