The return of the annual Americana show! (Is return annual an oxymoron?) Diane joined me and took us on an excellent tour through ’70s roots-revival music, to Gram Parsons, to Texas and Townes Van Zandt, and I squeezed in a lot of new roots records in between. Ellen Stanley joined us, too, with highlights from the 2007 Americana Music Association conference, and Patrick—original co-founder of the Americana show—called in from his home in Las Vegas with his top picks from this year (Southern Culture on the Skids, Bettye LaVette, Jason Isbell and John Doe). Check out the playlist and see if your favorites made the show! (Levon Helms has to be an honorable mention—we didn’t have it in studio that morning but it came up several times!)
