Tonight the doctors of dub returned to the twangy, camp sounds of the Dub Club Tiki Bar…as we pulled out all the fresh leftovers for part 2 of our Echo Beach end-of-summer special. More surf guitar, funky organs, James Bond, Ken Nordine, and Brazilian beats too. Ahh…but this week we mashed in a lot more dub as well…including part 1 of a fantastic mix from Tokyo Tower (put together specifically for our pal Terry C. at Echo Beach on WLUW).
Tonight Dr. StrangeDub and DJ Baby Swiss parked themselves at the Dub Club Tiki Bar for the annual Echo Beach end of summer special. It was very different kind of Echo Chamber, as we ventured into some twangy, instrumental surf rock, cool old school RB, a variety of lounge sounds, world sounds, swanky jazz, weird electronic music, and movie soundtracks. Included in the middle of the show was a special mix straight from the TurnTableTerrorist at Echo Beach on WLUW-FM, Chicago.
DJ Baby Swiss goes solo once again in the Echo Chamber. And, despite the fact that he arrived empty-handed (and had to rely on KFAI’s CD library), he cooked up a real fun ecelectic mix. Helping out the situation was the hand-delivered new King Tubby vs. The Assessor disc (Big Up Jeremy!). Loads of funn indeed.
Another great mix of old and new, from the yard to the club… Brand new tracks just in from Madtone:http://www.myspace.com/onedeckmadtone, Sista M:http://www.myspace.com/sistamparis, the Soul Merchants, Tom Drexl, Natacha Atlas, and even Paul Weller (yup, the modfather himself). Also in the mix, part 2 the “Roots Rock Reggae” guest mix from DJ Cojo of the Bushwackers Soundsystem, and a birthday mix for my daughter. A real fun summer show…
