This is a program about mindfulness, what it is, how you do it, who else does it, where did it come from, why is it so popular, what are the benefits and what is the evidence? This show is a unique approach to the topic of mindfulness and unique radio show / podcast format in that it includes a broad variety of perspectives and topics as a lens for examining this thing called mindfulness, approaches typically not associated with the common understanding of the concept. For example, we will be looking at things like civic design, evolution, food production and social action using mindfulness as the platform. And, we bring in a diverse range of cultural perspectives on the topic. If mindfulness is as beneficial as many of us think it is, then is it a universal practice? If it is, how do people around the world think, talk and practice it? The show will take up both the secular and non-secular perspectives on mindfulness in equal measure. Each episode will include: mindful music listening, interactive (chanting and sing a long) music, a poem or verse, an interview or in depth exploration on a specific topic, a radio appropriate guided meditation, a weekly “try it at home” mindfulness practice and announcements about local events and opportunities.
