LatinoAltROCK was created by Raúl Escobar, Pablo Miranda, and Nicole DeRung with the goal of sharing the latest Latino Alternative Rock music, as well as past hits, with a wider audience. They will bring you everything from rock, reggae, punk, ska, dance, indie, and fusions of many Latino and World sounds. The intent is to share great music, while creating a forum for others to discuss music and share their own new music finds."

We’re already well into July and it was heavy rain morning followed by steamy sun when GPlenty launched this edition at noon CST on 7 11 14. New music in the first half of hour 1 feat Meklit ‘s “Waiting for Earthquakes”.
Later about 20 in to hour 2 it’s a summer songs set working up to the next week (7/18/14) edition of GPlenty which features 2 hours of summer inspired music.

Welcome World Cup and world music lovers to this Friday the 13th edition of Groovin Plenty. Cool set of Brazillian Music in honor all the football going on southbound in the second 1/2 of hour one. Top of hour 2 finds a moon songs set with a cool cover of “Moonshadow “ by Labelle, the Black Ghosts “Full Moon”
and Thin Lizzy’s “Dancing in the Moonlight”. Lynval “Golden Voice” Jackson of Carribean Jam called in to talk about The Jamaican MN Organization boat ride going down on Sat 6 21 14 Pablo of Latino Alt Rock gave us a World Cup Update too all in second 1/2 of hour 2.

New Zealand reggae band “Black Seeds” sing “Take your Chances” right off the top of this 6 6 14 edition of Groovin Plenty and there’s more after that including a set of music picked from listener AJ Scheiber which includes a cool cover of “Fever”. Unreleased music from Mot Ros! Met Diego Arcaute when Juana Molina was in town, another one of those Cedar Cultural Center’s Concert nights when you meet amazing people and feel that you’ve known each other for ages.

Ana Tijoux (memorize that name): Oh boy do we ever “Believe in you”, you are a goddess, Girl. You can sing “Creo en ti” all day and all night long to us!

Pablo came back from South America bearing gifts: Music from an Argentinian musician that he met at Buenos Aires airport and guess what? They had friends in common!!!! BTW the dude’s name is Gabo Sequeira a self proclaimed Anarchist that described his music this way: “Instead of Rock, I would call it: Powerful, sour, in their 40’s ballads”. And the boy can write!

Bizarro Records sent Pablo back to us a “changed“man: They promised him a LatinoAltROCK!‘s program Identification by Tabare Rivero, and he won’t shut up about it!!! It’s driving us crazy!”…. “Y no queremos ser unos viejos de mierda” La tabare no muere, se clona!

Emily got her fingers on the local scene again: Maria Isa, CMJ, Dem Atlas (remember him? she interviewed him in 2012 aaahhh, only if they would listen to us, cause the kid has got it going on and we’ve been telling it to the world for 2 years!…..Hmmm maybe somebody was listening, he just kicked ass at Soundset!)

Raul, well… he’s still in love with Snow tha Product and who isn’t? She’s the most beautiful Latina on the face of the earth…. find out or it’s totally your loss.
