Ron Romanovsky & Paul Phillips, an openly gay folk duo, pioneered the queer music comedy movement starting in 1982 in San Francisco at the Valencia Rose Café where they performed during breaks for Gay Comedy Open Mike Night, sharing the stage with many other performers destined for success including Lea Delaria and Marga Gomez. They are known mostly for their political satire but their work contains serious songs as well. Romanovsky & Phillips have won numerous awards including two Cable Car Awards, a GLAMA, three ASCAP Special Awards and the Heritage Award from OutMusic. They have toured extensively and performed at two National Marches on Washington. Currently they are not performing together. Paul has decided to pursue a career outside of the music industry while Ron continues to record and perform mostly around Santa Fe, NM with his band. Ron's newest recording, Turn Up the Fun!, was released in 2008. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of R&P's first musical appearance on February 8, 1982, the book 1 Out Of 10 Therapists: The Poetry of Romanovsky & Phillips Lyrics has just been released by Brian D Gryphon of Digital Gryphon Publishing
