Join Laura Waterman Wittstock and Miguel Vargas as they talk with guest Professor Colette A. Hyman, author of the new book, Dakota Women's Work: Creativity, Culture, & Exile. The book tells a broader Dakota story at times through the lens of single families. The experiences of women who survived war, forced marches and relocation and integration by marriage into the European culture in America are described from personal histories as well as documentation. In all of this, the creativity and art expression of Dakota women is highly evident. Careful research shows through as these dual methods are applied.
