Willie Murphy & the Angel Headed Hipsters @ Freewheelin' 1st Friday
Friday, June 6, 2014 - 7:00pm
Harriet Brewing's Tap Room will be rockin' this Friday night, June 6th, as Jackson Buck's Freewheelin' First Friday presents Willie Murphy & The Angel Headed Hipsters. Chris Holm of Fatten' Frogs (and formerly of The 4onthefloor) opens. Music starts at 7:00.
Willie Murphy has been writing, performing, recording and producing Blues/R&B music for over 30 years. His 1969 collaboration with folk/blues legend "Spider" John Koerner, "Running, Jumping, Standing Still," is still acclaimed as an all-time folk/blues classic. Throughout the 70s and into the 80s, Willie and the Bees defined live R&B/soul music. The band was famous for their unique blending of blues, R&B, jazz, funk, reggae and rock into an electric and eclectic sound that still defies categorization to this day.
Chris Holm is a solo blues artist, playing a traditional delta blues influenced style of acoustic guitar and harmonica. In addition, he sings and plays guitar, banjo and harmonica in roots rock band, The Fattenin’ Frogs and is a former member of The4ontheFloor.
