KFAI is a proud sponsor of the Minnesota debut of Caravan Palace, the revolutionary electro-swing sextet from Paris. They're bringing their infectious music – influenced by Django Reinhardt, Cab Calloway, Lionel Hampton, Gorillaz, and Daft Punk – to the Cedar Cultural Center on July 2 at 7:00 pm.
The band is made up of Charles Delaporte (bass, programming), Arnaud Vial (guitar, programming), Hugues Payen (violin, programming), Zoé Colotis (vocals), Toustou (electronics, trombone), and Chapi (clarinet).
Caravan Palace's self-titled first album in 2008 reached the Top 20 of the French albums chart garnering acclaim for its traditional jazz inclinations and hit single, "Jolie Coquine." The band released its second album, "Panic," in 2012, and has since been touring the world.
"Look closely at the curves of their beats, the warmth of their swing, not to mention their legendary footwork, and you'll be hooked!"
