KFAI is pleased to sponsor a double bill of top-shelf American roots country music with The Black Lillies plus Chuck Mead & His Grassy Knoll Boys, at the Cedar Cultural Center on Friday, October 25, at 8:00 pm.
The Black Lillies are enjoying much well-deserved national attention for their third studio album Runaway Freeway Blues. The Wall Street Journal describes the album as having “a rootsy flair, mixing folk, honky-tonk country and gospel into a winsome hybrid traditional enough to appeal to an Opry crowd… and expansive enough to ensnare a broader audience.”
Chuck Mead (of the famed '90s alt-country quintet BR549), is reaching new audiences too. Bringing his country and rockabilly sound to The Cedar, he's making a quick return to the area following the band's performance on A Prairie Home Companion on September 14.
