Big Walter Smith Fundraiser

Join KFAI in mourning and celebrating the life of Legendary Big Walter Smith at a fundraiser to assist in meeting his medical and funeral expenses.  Big Walter Smith (1930-2012) passed away on July 24th, 2012.

The event will be at Famous Dave's Uptown located in the Calhoun Square at Hennepin Avenue and Lake Street (3001 Hennepin Avenue South) in Minneapolis.

The Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Jacquie "LadyJ Griot" Maddix, KFAI Radio's host of the Rollin & Tumblin program.

The line-up for music is:

         3:00pm LadyJ Griot & Her Root Doctors 

         4:00pm The Soul Mates featuring Wilbur Cole

5:00pm The Groove Merchants featuring Jimi "Prime Time" Smith

6:00pm Sweet Papa Dave & The Private Reserve(all the way from Duluth Minnesota just for this gig)

7:00pm Inside Straight

 

8:00pm to 11:00pm The Moses Oakland Quartet with the Sunday Blues Jam(There every Sunday at 8pm)

There also will be a Silent Auction featuring musicians' gear, CD's and more.
