A Weaving of Traditions

Date:
Saturday, June 8, 2013 - 7:30pm

Jazz has long been recognized as America’s original musical art form. However, predating jazz, there was another form of music rooted in this land—that of the Native Americans. Jazz88 presents a new project that explores the roots of American Music, intertwining both music styles. A Weaving of Traditions, an evening of Native American music and interpretation, is created by Minnesota musician and Native American flutist Bobb Fantauzzo and his group JazZen. Accompanying the group will be Lyz Jaakola, who provides traditional Anishinaabe vocals and percussion. It is an eclectic mix of the traditional and the untraditional, the conventional and the unconventional, the past and the present. This performance will be recorded and will be made available online and accessible to everyone at www.jazz88fm.com.
