Terakaft – at the Cedar
Sunday, October 27, 2013 - 7:30pm
KFAI is pleased to sponsor a return visit by Tuareg desert rock guitar band Terakaft at the Cedar Cultural Center on Sunday, October 27, at 7:30 pm.
They're back after their resoundingly successful March 2013 show at The Cedar, even with a depleted line-up. This time we're expecting the full band to make it across the border!
Terakaft (meaning "caravan" in Tamasheq) is from Mali. It is a genuine desert rock band, sculpted by the pure searing air and the endless rolling sands of the Sahara. The stark, harsh conditions of the desert have permeated their wild riffs, and as a result they are the embodiment of all that is wild and free in desert blues today.
Terakaft is a mix of two rhythm guitars (one keeping the beat effortlessly, the other soaring and sweet) and the deep tones of the bass, resembling the delicate but strong steps of a camel making its way through the desert. The heavy, pulsating heartbeat of the percussion holds everyone together and completes the sound.
More information is available at The Cedar Cultural Center.
