Special VIP Event - Listening to a Voice Inside the Immigration Debate: An Evening With Jose Antonio Vargas
Date:
Wednesday, December 12, 2012 - 5:00pm
Please join Jose Antonio Vargas for conversation, drinks, and hors d’ouevres prior to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota's event at the Riverview Theater.
Last year, Jose Antonio Vargas used his skills as a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist to break a personal story. In his New York Times Magazine article he informed readers that he was an undocumented immigrant—a fact he was unaware of until he applied for a driver’s license and was told his immigration materials had been forged. Over the past year, Vargas has traveled the country challenging the perception of what it means to be an undocumented American. He is the founder of Define American, a campaign that seeks to elevate the conversation around immigration. He was featured on the cover of TIME magazine just two days before the announcement of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals legislation, which offers hope to undocumented immigrants age 30 and under.
Attendees will also have reserved seating at the Riverview Theater.
