Experience Pasión Flamenca: Spain’s Cultural Treasure, on Saturday, March 1 at 7:30pm. This exciting odyssey is part of Hamline University and the Minnesota Global Arts Institute’s Roots Music: Four Corners of Europe concert series, which brings the state’s top world music artists to the local stage. Vocalist Rachel ”La Mala” Milloy and guitarist Scott Mateo Davies lead a stellar team of musicians and dancers in exploration of the roots and current trends of this vibrant art form. They begin by highlighting Sephardic Jewish, Roma-Gypsy, and North African Arabic influences. The cast focuses on modern trends in the second half of the show with jazz flamenco, electronica, and world beat, culminating in a return to the purity of the traditional.
