Mississippi Valley Partners 100 miles of Christmas Celebration, Dec 1 & 2, 2012
An Old Fashioned Christmas is a far cry from the money and glitz that seems to be the current
trend. When people come here during the first weekend in December we would like them to feel
like they are just coming home to witness the beauty and wonderment of the season. It's the
excitement of knowing Santa is just around the corner. All ages can get a little giddy around
Santa (not the Santa that arrives at Wal-Mart on Thanksgiving mind you). Remember when it was
the little things that created the excitement of our childhoods, like making ornaments and
cookies and placing the milk out. In our towns we still experience the holidays in this way;
it's not about spending, it's about warmth and love.
Mississippi River Valley, Lake Pepin area and the communities that have banded together to form
this little group called: Mississippi Valley Partners. These communities travel along the Great
River Road, (just voted as the most beautiful drive in the US by Huffington Post), and offers a
winter adventure in one of nature’s remaining unspoiled regions. In the area along the river
you will tour the villages who will be celebrating a good old country Christmas and welcome you
to share the fun.
Discover the scenic winding roads that bring you to the talented artists and craftspeople you
will meet along the way. Also visit the great cafés, galleries, restaurants and inns in the
area, presented in a low-key manner, typical of the Midwest, yet the quality is startlingly
