Memoirs of a Welfare Queen
Friday, March 7, 2014 - 7:00pm
After her BabyDaddy left her and their 6 month old infant, Jena had no job, no partner, and no prospects. Sex, drugs, and abuse all play a part in this true tale of how a young, unwed mother struggled to support her child- but not in the ways you’d expect.
"This piece was sweetly redemptive, as we follow our heroine through oppressive trials, daunting challenges and horrible low expectations, to the inspiring conclusion that we know must be coming. Moments brought tears to my eyes..."- Timothy Mooney, Repertory Theatre
With it's premier performance at the MN Fringe Festival, Jena had two weeks to write and perform show. Using feedback from that production and more time than originally allowed, we now get to see the reworked piece with more information, more story, and far less script.
