“Kenny Drew, Jr. will blow your mind! He gets my highest recommendation!” – Byron Stripling Kenny Drew, Jr. is a jazz pianist with a style reminiscent of Oscar Peterson. The son of former John Coltrane sideman Kenny Drew, Drew Jr. has performed with such luminaries as Stanley Turrentine, Slide Hampton, Stanley Jordan, and the Mingus Big Band. This promises to be a grand kick-off to a terrific season of jazz.
The JazzMN Orchestra includes many of the Twin Cities' finest jazz musicians. Members have performed with some of the world's most famous big bands, including Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Artie Shaw, and Woody Herman. Formed as a nonprofit jazz arts organization by Artistic Director Douglas Snapp in 1998, JazzMN is a professional orchestra combining the talents of outstanding jazz musicians from throughout the Twin Cities, and follows the models of classical orchestras in striving for artistic excellence.
