This tour de force from Britain’s fieriest choreographer, Israeli-born Hofesh Shechter, Political Mother has garnered glowing praise worldwide for its emotional tension, gritty complexity, and explosive collision of politics and movement. Channeling a roiling, relentlessly physical version of traditional folk dance, 10 dancers unleash a rapid-fire chain of surreal images, set to
an explosive score composed by Shechter, himself a former rock musician, and propelled by a blistering eight-piece live band. The result is a gripping
investigation of community and country, service and freedom, and the pursuit of power in an intoxicating, full-throttle, immersive experience that is sure to be the modern dance event of the year. Warning: it might get loud.
