KFAI proudly sponsors Debashish Bhattacharya's Modern India at the Cedar Cultural Center on Sunday, September 15, at 7:30 pm.

Debashish Bhattacharya's Modern India is a ground-breaking global roots band, featuring India's master slide guitarist in a contemporary group setting with acoustic guitar, bass, tabla, drums and the extraordinary vocals of his teenage daughter, Anandi Bhattacharya.

Debashish Bhattacharya is undoubtedly one of the greatest slide guitarists in the world, having contributed to the guitar idiom a new standard and style of playing, aided by his innovative Hindustani slide guitars.

Debashish's unique arrangements modernize classical melodies and rhythms with multiple levels of percussion and lightning-fast group unison solos. Debashish will be joined by his brother Subhasis Bhattacharya on tabla, his daughter Anandi Bhattacharya on vocals, Bumpy on bass, and Americans Jeff Sipe (drums) and Adam del Monte (acoustic guitar).
