Grammy Award-winning tabla virtuoso Ustad Zakir Hussain and Padma Vibhushan (the Highest Civilian Award, awarded by the President of India) recipient, Kathak dance maven Pandit Birju Maharaj , will unite at the O'Shaughnessy Auditorium for one night only this September. Opening with a performance to welcome the gurus by local dance company Katha Dance Theatre, the legendary masters will celebrate the foundations of their respective traditions, informing one another with the pirouettic spins, percussive footwork, and complex rhythms that have captivated sold-out audiences from the Palace Theater in San Francisco to Carnegie Hall in New York.
