American Craft Council Library Salon Series: Craft Cage Match

Date:
Thursday, June 20, 2013 - 7:00pm to 9:30pm

Six art professionals enter, and barring any disasters, six art professionals will leave - albeit each of them will have given the audience a lot to think about.

Join us as we conclude our Spring Salon Series with a Craft Cage Match on the roof of the historic Grain Belt Brewery! The participants will compete in two groups led by hometown heroes and craft curators Jennifer Komar Olivarez of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and Jennifer Scanlan, formerly of the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. Assisting them in their quest for glory will be an all-star team of Twin Cities-based craft connoisseurs: Scott McGlasson, Jennifer Merchant, Scott Pollock, and Andy Sturdevant.

The winners of the evening will be determined by how they fare in various art-related feats. Rounds will include debating contemporary art issues and craft "physical challenges," such as spinning yarn, throwing pots, and more. Questions will be answered, secrets will be revealed, and hot-button topics will be put on the line at the rooftop rumble!

Stop by for a fun-filled evening, enjoy the view of downtown Minneapolis, and have some complementary refreshments. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase at a cash bar.

Keep an eye on our Facebook event page for more information. Spread the word to friends - this event is sure to be one you won't forget!
