Our Nov. 26 open mic is themed Rep Your Roots! This mic seeks to bolster self-pride and understanding as well as cultural awareness through storytelling, food and performance. Our feature artist for this mic is Bomba Umoya. They are a local group comprised of young individuals seeking to preserve the traditional Puerto Rican style of music that is Bomba. Many of the artists in the group are from South Minneapolis.

Voices Merging is a student-based art coalition at the University of Minnesota founded in 2002. Our mission is to support and promote Spoken Word, Visual and Urban Arts in the Twin Cities. We host bimonthly open mics each semester, bringing local artists to feature at each mic. We seek to cultivate a supportive and engaging performance environment for our audience, artists and performers alike.
